Dr.
Simmons achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian when he
received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1992. He
began practice in Wilmington. In 1995 he opened Wrightsville

Dr. Deans grew up in Wilson, North Carolina where her
favorite places to get barbecue and donuts are located! She
earned her degree in Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences at
Clemson State University in South Carolina. She then returned to
North Carolina to attend NCSU where she received her Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine degree in 1999. She loves spending time with
her friends who are spread out over many miles. She enjoys
reading, mostly psychological thrillers and romances (yes,
she'll admit that), movies and anything outdoors, even yardwork.
She is regularly amused by the antics of her two large lab mix dogs.
Jett and Sylvie. She currently commutes from Oak Island.
Dr.
Pamela Varga is a "Jersey Girl"
at heart. She earned her undergraduate degree
from Boston College and her DVM from Colorado State University.
After graduating
she went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine
and surgery in
Boston. She comes to the Wilmington area after years of practice
in Long Island,
NY. Here she has settled with her family including Reggie, a
yellow lab, and Emma,
a German Shorthaired Pointer.
Teresa
has been grooming cats and dogs at WBPH since 1996! Prior to
that she had many years of grooming experience. From shave downs
to trims, she enjoys helping many of our furry friends look
their best. In addition to her excellent grooming skills, Teresa
is a Master Gardener and a quilter!
As
an all black adult cat, Pusseidon waited at the humane society
for several months. Since 1996 he has been ruling the roost at
WBPH. Not every cat has the purrsonality to make it as an
office cat. One cat who auditioned kept hissing and batting the
dogs. (That cat found a home with Dr.Simmons, where he still
bats the dogs) However, Pusseidon seems to have truly found his
niche as a Vet Hospital Cat. He lives at the
hospital all the time. He enjoys visiting with clients,
supervising patients, “helping” the receptionist type and of
course sleeping (he is a cat after all). Occasionally he is
called upon to donate blood to a sick feline patient. If you
come by and don’t see Pusseidon, he may be napping in the office
upstairs! He always likes to find a sunny spot. Unlike the rest
of the staff, Pusseidon graciously allowed us to use his photo
on this page.
TRITON
joined our feline staff in 2005. His name is derived from
Greek mythology and means "son of Poseidon". He is still
adjusting to his new role and responsibilities. He is
learning how to be polite with our canine guests and not to eat
the food for sale! Pusseidon has been enjoying his
new playmate. You'll often find Triton lounging on the
front desk or on Dr. Resnick's lap!
